About Michelle
Michelle Gibbons earned her law degree from Mitchell Hamline School of Law after completing undergraduate studies at the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities. She built a foundation in legal research and writing during law school and left with a practical view of courtroom procedure. The combination of state education and local ties shaped her decision to practice in Minnesota.
She is admitted to practice in Minnesota and is active in several professional organizations. She serves as Treasurer of the Minnesota chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association. She is also a member of the Federal Bar Association, Minnesota Chapter, the Hennepin County Bar Association, and Minnesota Women Lawyers. These memberships reflect an ongoing engagement with both local and federal practice communities.
Gibbons’s career has centered on matters that most often arise in the workplace and in federal court. She represents individuals in employment disputes, handling claims related to discrimination, retaliation, wage-and-hour issues, and contract disputes. Her work includes pre-litigation counseling, filing claims, and taking cases through discovery and trial when necessary. Colleagues describe her as practical and thorough; clients rely on her to explain complex legal processes in straightforward terms.
At Wanta Thome PLC she is part of a team that handles employment and related civil litigation. She collaborates with fellow attorneys on case strategy and engages directly with clients at every stage of a matter. Her approach emphasizes careful case assessment and clear communication about legal options and potential outcomes.
Outside the office, Gibbons participates in bar events and continuing legal education programs. Her role as treasurer for the National Employment Lawyers Association’s Minnesota chapter involves managing the chapter’s financial matters and helping plan local programming. She attends meetings of the Federal Bar Association and Hennepin County Bar Association to stay current on procedural developments and to maintain professional connections across the bench and bar.
She practices from Wanta Thome PLC in Minnesota. Her current practice centers on employment law and related litigation.
