Michelle Cornejo Sullivan is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. She was admitted to the California State Bar in 1984 and holds bar number 113705. Her license is currently in active status. Ms. Sullivan is a partner at The Sullivan Defense APC, a law firm located in San Diego, California. She has been practicing law for over 41 years, serving clients throughout the San Diego area and North County.
Ms. Sullivan earned her Juris Doctor degree from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1983. Prior to law school, she completed her undergraduate education at the University of California, Berkeley, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1980. During her time at Santa Clara University, she developed a strong foundation in legal principles that have guided her throughout her career.
Ms. Sullivan concentrates her practice in the areas of family law, divorce, mediation, and adoption law. She represents individuals and families in matters involving divorce proceedings, child custody and support, and adoption processes. Her practice encompasses all stages of legal proceedings, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout her career, Ms. Sullivan has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of San Diego, the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding her own firm, she worked as an associate at the Law Offices of Rebecca Prater and Walters & Ward, and served as a Deputy District Attorney in the District Attorney's Office.
Ms. Sullivan is an active member of the State Bar of California and the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists. She holds membership in the San Diego County Bar Association and the North County Bar Association, where she served as a director from 2005 to 2007. She is also a member of the American Business Women's Association and the Rotary Club of Escondido. Ms. Sullivan is fluent in English, allowing her to serve the diverse communities of San Diego County effectively.
