Michele Sacks Lowenstein is a seasoned family law attorney based in San Diego, California. With over four decades of experience, she has built a robust practice specializing in family law, divorce, business law, real estate law, arbitration and mediation, juvenile law, and military law. Since 1992, she has been recognized as a Certified Family Law Specialist, a designation that shows her expertise in this complex field. Her commitment to her clients is evident in her extensive knowledge and hands-on approach to legal matters. A native of San Diego, Ms. Lowenstein graduated cum laude from California Western School of Law in 1981. During her time there, she distinguished herself by winning the Nathan Burkan Competition, a prestigious accolade that highlights her legal acumen.
Prior to her law degree, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities from Thomas Edison College in 1978, laying a strong foundation for her future legal career. This diverse educational background gave her a unique perspective. This lets the attorney approach cases with both analytical rigor and a understanding of human dynamics. In 2003, Ms. Lowenstein founded the Law Offices of Michele Sacks Lowenstein, which later evolved into Lowenstein Brown, a firm she co-founded with Elizabeth Moody Brown. This partnership has allowed her to expand her practice and better serve her clients' needs. In 2021, she took on a new role as Of Counsel at Cage & Miles LLP, where she focuses on private mediation.
This shift supports her helping clients resolve disputes amicably, minimizing the need for court intervention and fostering collaborative solutions. Throughout her career, Ms. Lowenstein has received numerous accolades for her work. For the last eleven years, she has been recognized as a Super Lawyer, a designation that highlights her standing among peers in the legal community. Additionally, she has served in various capacities for the San Diego County Bar Association, including chairperson for the Family Law Section and a member of the fee arbitration panel. Her professional achievements are further underscored by her AV-rating from Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest rating available to individual attorneys. Beyond her legal practice, Ms.
Lowenstein is an avid supporter of the arts. She serves as a board member at large for Vanguard Culture, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing San Diego’s creative industries. Her focus on culture extends to her personal life, where she and her husband, David, attend numerous cultural events and performances. They also travel extensively, exploring new places and experiences together.
