About Michael

Michael Zisser brought a literary and philosophical training to the study of law. He earned his B.A. in English and Philosophy from Boston University in 2003 and continued with an M.A. in English Literature at New York University in 2007. He completed his legal education at Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, receiving his J.D. in 2008.

Those early degrees shaped his approach to legal work. Close reading, careful argumentation and attention to narrative are recurring themes in his professional description. Law school provided the doctrinal and procedural tools. His humanities background supplied habits of analysis and a comfort with complex texts.

Zisser is authorized to practice in New York and in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. That combination enables him to appear in both state and federal proceedings. His registrations reflect a career spent working inside New York’s legal system.

He has handled matters that require courtroom presence and written advocacy. He is experienced in drafting briefs, preparing motions and presenting arguments to judges. Colleagues describe his writing as concise and attentive to detail. He approaches fact patterns methodically and constructs legal theories with an eye toward clarity.

Over time his work has involved interactions with opposing counsel, court personnel and clients. He has prepared pleadings, taken and defended depositions, and participated in hearings. The record of practice shows steady involvement in litigation processes rather than transactional or regulatory specialties.

Outside of casework he remains connected to the questions that drew him to law—how language shapes dispute and how reasoned argument persuades decision makers. His classroom training in literature and philosophy continues to inform how he frames issues and structures legal narratives.

He maintains a practice in New York state courts and is available for matters that require admission to the federal bench in the Eastern District of New York. He practices in the state courts of New York and in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
