Michael Russell is a member attorney at Pease Mountain Law, PLLC, located in Hinesburg, Vermont. Since 1998, he has dedicated his legal career to practicing law in Vermont, focusing on business law, estate planning, and real estate law. After returning to Vermont with his family in 1996, he began his legal journey as an associate with Stuart M. Bennett, PC in Shelburne — This initial role laid the groundwork for his experience in the legal field. In 2002, Michael joined Hoff Curtis in Burlington, where he quickly advanced to partner in 2006 — His leadership skills were recognized further when he became Managing Director in 2008. During his time at Hoff Curtis, he developed his expertise in various areas of law, developing a reputation for excellence in both transactional and consultative practices.
In 2010, he transitioned to serve as General Counsel and COO for New England Air Systems, where he managed legal affairs and operational strategies. Returning to private practice in 2013, Michael established his office in Charlotte, Vermont. His commitment to the Champlain Valley community is evident in his decision to expand to Hinesburg in 2021. At Pease Mountain Law, Michael's practice is primarily consultative and transactional, though he also provides litigation services to support his clients. His work encompasses representing corporations in commercial disputes, advising condominium and homeowner associations, and handling property disputes, land use permitting, and zoning issues. In addition to his business law practice, Michael offers comprehensive legal services in estate planning, trust administration, elder law, asset protection, and guardianships.

Educationally, Michael earned his B.A. in History from The Colorado College in 1986 and later obtained his J.D. from the University of Denver College of Law in 1997. During his time in law school, he studied under Professor Edward H.
Ziegler, a nationally recognized land use scholar, which significantly influenced his understanding of real estate law. He is a member of both the Vermont Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Beyond his legal work, Michael is actively involved in his community, serving on the Board of the Charlotte Food Shelf and participating in various local organizations. Residing in Charlotte, he enjoys biking, yoga, woodworking, mechanics, and back-country skiing, reflecting his commitment to a balanced and engaged lifestyle.
