About Michael Ray

I provide criminal steerage to small enterprise owners, marketers, and tax-exempt organizations at some point of Indiana. My practice covers a range of sports which includes the formation of companies and nonprofit groups, the acquisition and sale of groups, agreement negotiations, resolution of business disputes, and the safety of rights for corporations and nonprofits. I have a wide heritage in forming and advising LLCs and supporting tax-exempt entities, especially 501(c)(3) corporations. I also manage both civil and crook appeals for my clients.
Originally from Tennessee, I were a resident of Indiana since 1978, beginning when I joined Eli Lilly and Company in Lafayette. After two years, I pursued an M.S. in chemical engineering from Purdue University on instructional leave. I lower back to Lilly in Indianapolis, running in studies and development and leading an engineering department, which honed my management capabilities that are now significantly valued by way of enterprise owners.
In 1989, whilst nevertheless hired complete-time, I started my criminal studies and graduated summa cum laude with a J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 1993. I then moved to Lilly’s Law Division, where I developed my knowledge in Environmental Law, Securities, and Commercial Transactions, and led the division’s pro bono application.
In 2008, I mounted a enterprise regulation practice in Fishers, and a decade later, in 2018, I co-founded Harshman Ponist Smith & Rayl, LLC. I additionally function an accessory professor at IU McKinney and behavior persevering with training guides for prison and financial experts. Since 2009, I have written the *Indiana Business Law Blog*, presenting practical insights for business proprietors and nonprofit leaders.
Outside of my criminal practice, I experience backpacking, fishing, kayaking, gardening with local flora, and crafting with antique hand equipment.
