About Michael

Michael Pohl entered law after completing undergraduate studies at Texas A&M University–Commerce and earning a J.D. from the University of Houston. He took the conventional route through law school and into courtroom work, building a practice grounded in litigation and appellate procedure.

He is admitted to practice in Texas and Colorado and before the U.S. Supreme Court and the Fifth Circuit. Those admissions have allowed him to handle matters at multiple levels of the judicial system. Over the years he has moved between trial courts and appellate dockets, often carrying cases from initial filings through post-appeal proceedings.

Pohl became a principal of Pohl & Berk, LLP in 1984. That year marked a turning point in his professional life. He helped shape the firm’s approach to contested matters and assumed responsibility for overseeing litigation strategy and client representation. His title reflects long service at the firm and an ongoing role in case oversight and firm management.

He has spent much of his career in adversarial settings. The record shows appearances and filings across state and federal venues consistent with his admissions. He has handled briefs, oral arguments, and the procedural work that accompanies appeals. His courtroom time spans both bench trials and jury matters, and he has worked on appeals that required careful briefing and strategic positioning before higher courts.

Colleagues describe him as steady in the courtroom and methodical in preparation. He tends to bring a procedural clarity to complex disputes. Outside of hearings, he has supervised associates and taken part in case planning and discovery management. Those responsibilities have been part of his role as a firm principal for decades.

His educational background—Texas A&M University–Commerce for undergraduate study and the University of Houston for law school—provided a foundation for practice across jurisdictions. The combination of trial work and appellate practice shapes how he evaluates client matters and constructs legal arguments.

Today he remains at Pohl & Berk, LLP. He practices in the jurisdictions where he is admitted and manages litigation portfolios at the firm. He currently focuses his practice on litigation in federal and state courts, including appellate matters in the Fifth Circuit and filings before the U.S. Supreme Court.
