About Michael Paul
Michael Paul Iaria is a criminal defense attorney based in Seattle, Washington. He has been licensed to practice law in Washington since 1985 and in New Jersey since 1983. His practice focuses on defending clients accused of serious crimes in both state and federal courts. Mr. Iaria earned his Juris Doctor from Seattle University School of Law in 1982 and holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Vermont, obtained in 1977.
He began his legal career as a judicial clerk in 1982, followed by roles as a legal intern in 1981. He has also served as an adjunct professor of law, teaching advanced criminal procedure at the University of Washington School of Law. Throughout his career, Mr. Iaria has been recognized for his contributions to criminal defense. He has been selected as a "Super Lawyer" each year since 1999 and was named one of the 100 best trial lawyers in Washington in 2014.
Seattle Business Monthly has listed him among the best lawyers in Seattle. He has also received Martindale-Hubbell's highest rating, based on confidential peer evaluations that rank him "at the highest level of professional excellence." In addition to his practice, Mr. Iaria is actively involved in professional associations. He serves as co-chair of the Lawyers Assistance Strike Force for the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and has been a member of the Northwest Defender Association's Board of Directors since 2006. He has also been a member of the Washington Appellate Defender Association's Board of Directors.
