About Michael P.

Michael P. Jasso earned his Juris Doctor from the University of New Mexico in 2014. He arrived at law school after undergraduate studies and completed the typical mix of coursework, clinic work and research that law students undertake. While in law school he took on roles that exposed him to both trial and appellate work.

In 2013 Jasso served as an extern to the New Mexico Supreme Court. The placement gave him direct exposure to high-level legal writing and judicial decision-making. He worked on legal research and memorandum drafting and observed oral arguments. That experience shaped the early contours of his approach to case analysis and appellate procedure.

After law school he pursued admission to practice and now appears in New Mexico courts and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He navigates matters that require familiarity with state law and the federal appellate rules. His courtroom experience and the early judicial externship inform how he prepares filings and presents legal issues.

Jasso runs MPJ Law Office, a private practice that handles a range of matters in the state and federal systems. The office represents clients in trial-level disputes and in appeals. He handles briefing, motions and oral argument when cases progress beyond the trial court. His practice combines written advocacy with courtroom appearances, and he manages cases from intake through disposition or appeal.

Colleagues and clients see him as an attorney who emphasizes careful preparation. He tends to approach each matter by mapping the procedural path and identifying the legal questions that will matter most on appeal. Outside of casework he maintains relationships with local legal circles and participates in professional activities. He continues to practice actively in New Mexico and before the Tenth Circuit, representing clients in both trial and appellate matters.

He maintains a private practice handling matters in New Mexico and appeals in the Tenth Circuit.
