About Michael P.
Michael P. Balaban earned a B.B.A. in marketing from the University of Texas at Austin in 1982 and later took up legal studies at Western State University College of Law, receiving his J.D. in 1991. Those years shaped his move from business training into courtroom practice. He combined classroom study with early professional work that bridged business and employment issues, a combination that would mark much of his career.
He opened his own practice in 1997 and has been the owner of the Law Offices of Michael P. Balaban since then. Over three decades he has built a small firm practice that handles employment-related claims and litigation. He holds licenses to practice in both California and Nevada and has maintained steady involvement in local and national bar organizations alongside running his office.
Balaban’s professional affiliations outline the circles in which he practices. He has been active in the American Association for Justice, Employment Law Section, since 1997. He joined the Nevada Justice Association in 2007 and the Clark County Bar Association in 2010. In the National Employment Lawyers Association’s Nevada chapter he has served as Secretary/Treasurer and Director since 2014. Those roles have kept him engaged on policy conversations and member education within the employment law community.
His caseload over the years reflects repeated work in employment law matters. He represents employees in disputes over wages, wrongful termination, discrimination and related workplace issues. His practice handles hearings, filings and courtroom appearances when cases proceed to litigation. He also counsels clients through the pre-litigation process, preparing complaints, negotiating settlements and managing discovery.
Colleagues and clients see him largely as a trial lawyer who also manages the administrative and strategic tasks that accompany contested employment cases. The firm he runs remains small and focused, allowing him to handle cases directly and keep a visible role in case strategy and client communication. He combines litigation skills with experience in employment statutes and regulations that apply in both California and Nevada.
He remains active in professional groups and bar activities while managing his practice. His office in Las Vegas serves as the base for client work in the region. His current practice concentrates on employment law and related litigation.
