About Michael
Michael Nichols began his academic path in southern Illinois and completed a bachelor’s degree in marketing at Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2010. He returned to school for law and earned his J.D. from Northern Illinois University College of Law in 2018. Those years gave him a mix of business and legal training that often shapes how he approaches client matters.
After law school he established his practice in Illinois. He is licensed to practice in the state and has worked in local courts and administrative settings. Early in his career he joined the McLean County Bar Association, where he has been a member since 2018. That local involvement has kept him engaged with court procedures and colleagues across central Illinois.
Nichols' professional experience has unfolded at Pioletti Pioletti & Nichols, a firm where he practices alongside other attorneys. At the firm he has handled a variety of day-to-day legal tasks and casework that arise in state practice. Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing files and attentive in client meetings. He manages pleadings, hearings and client communications as part of the firm’s caseload.
His undergraduate training in marketing informs how he evaluates business issues that intersect with legal needs. He applies that background to explain legal options in plain language and to organize case strategy around clients’ practical goals. He also spends time staying current on procedural developments in Illinois courts and on rules that affect local litigation practice.
Outside casework, Nichols participates in the McLean County Bar Association’s activities and attends regional meetings and continuing legal education programs. That involvement has helped him develop working relationships with judges and fellow lawyers in the area. It also keeps him connected to changes in local practice and to resources that benefit his clients.
Today he continues to practice at Pioletti Pioletti & Nichols, handling matters brought in state courts across Illinois and advising clients on legal and business intersections. He maintains an active role in the McLean County Bar Association and remains based in the region where he practices most of his law work.
