About Michael Loy

Michael Loy White earned his J.D. from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 1996. He completed his legal education at a time when the courts were adapting to new rules and an expanding federal docket. The degree marked the start of a career tied closely to Alabama’s courts and the federal system that serves the state.

He is admitted to practice in Alabama and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. In addition, he holds admission to the United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Alabama. Those credentials allow him to file and argue cases across the state’s federal benches and to pursue appeals at the circuit level.

Memberships and professional affiliations appear regularly in his profile. He is listed as a member of the Lawyers of Distinction. He also belongs to the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Those organizations bring together attorneys who have met their respective membership criteria. His standing in those groups is part of his professional identity.

Courtroom work has played a clear role in his professional life, given the multiple federal admissions. Practicing in federal district courts requires familiarity with local rules, civil procedure and the differing practices of each judges’ chambers. Appearing before the Eleventh Circuit adds another layer, where appellate briefing and oral argument follow a different rhythm than trial work. That combination has shaped the arc of his practice.

Colleagues describe him as an attorney who operates inside established procedures. He places emphasis on preparation and on complying with the procedural demands of federal litigation. That approach is reflected in his ability to appear in multiple federal forums. It also frames how he manages client matters and case strategy in both trial courts and on appeal.

Outside the federal courts, his ties to the Alabama bar remain an organizing feature of his practice. He is active in the state’s legal community and uses his admissions to pursue matters that cross both state and federal lines. His memberships in national advocates’ groups provide a network that reaches beyond Alabama.

He practices law in Alabama and regularly represents clients in matters filed in the federal districts and before the Eleventh Circuit. His current practice focuses on handling matters in both federal and state courts.
