About Michael Louis

Michael Louis Zuckerman built a legal education that paired a broad undergraduate study with a concentrated law school training. He earned a B.A. in Social Studies from Harvard University in 2010 and completed his J.D. at Harvard Law School in 2017. Those years established the academic foundations that led to a string of courtrooms and public interest work early in his career.

Fresh from law school, Zuckerman took a clerkship with Judge Karen Nelson Moore of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in 2017. He spent that year inside appellate chambers, writing and researching on a range of federal issues. The following year he served as a law clerk to Justice Sonia Sotomayor at the Supreme Court of the United States. That position exposed him to the Court’s procedures and to the high-stakes decision-making that shapes national law.

In 2019 Zuckerman was selected as a Skadden Fellow at the Ohio Justice & Policy Center. The fellowship sent him into direct public interest practice, where he handled client-facing work and case development. The fellowship is an early-career path for lawyers who move from clerkships into sustained advocacy, and it placed him in an organization focused on legal services and policy work in Ohio.

Zuckerman has been a member of the Ohio State Bar since 2017. His experience spans appellate writing and federal clerkship research as well as nonprofit legal practice. Colleagues describe his background as unusually varied for a lawyer who is still early in his professional timeline. He pairs deep court experience with hands-on litigation work in a nonprofit setting.

The arc of his career follows a clear sequence: elite academic training, federal judicial clerkships, then public interest practice. That progression provided both inside views of appellate and Supreme Court processes and immediate exposure to clients and community-based legal problems. It also gave him experience drafting briefs and advising on policy-related litigation questions.

He currently practices at the Ohio Justice & Policy Center, handling litigation and policy matters there.
