About Michael
Michael Lichterman earned his J.D. from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 2005, where he studied business transactions. He completed his undergraduate degree in finance at Grand Valley State University in 1998. Those two strands—law and finance—appear throughout his professional narrative.
He entered the legal workforce soon after law school and took a corporate role in 2006 as Vice President and Assistant In‑House Counsel for Peninsular Leasing, Inc. That position placed him inside a company legal department early in his career and exposed him to commercial and transactional matters. In 2009 he began practicing with Lichterman Law, PLC, where he has worked as a lawyer since that year. He is admitted to practice in Michigan.
Lichterman has taken additional training in estate work. He holds a Certificate in Probate and Estate Planning from the Institute of Continuing Legal Education. He joined the West Michigan Estate Planning Council in 2009 and has maintained that association while building a practice that often intersects with personal planning and probate administration.
Community and professional involvement have been consistent features of his biography. He has served on the board of the Southeast Ottawa Community Foundation since 2011. He is also a board member of Greater Life Pentecostal Church, a role he began in 2009. On the professional side, he belongs to WealthCounsel and Advisors Forum, both since 2010, and he has been a member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association, Grand Rapids Young Professionals, and the American Bar Association since 2007.
The mix of finance training, in‑house corporate work and formal estate planning education shapes his practice areas. His background in finance colors advice on business and transaction issues. His probate certification supports handling estate administration and related court processes. Clients encountering business succession questions, wills and trusts, or estate administration can expect a practitioner whose path combines corporate and planning perspectives.
He maintains an active practice in Michigan through Lichterman Law, PLC. His caseload and client work center on estate planning, probate and business transaction matters in the Michigan bar jurisdiction.
His current practice focuses on estate planning, probate administration and business transaction matters.
