About Michael
Michael Kemmitt began his legal path in the Midwest. He earned a B.A. from Hamline University in 2012 and went on to study at the University of Wisconsin Law School. He completed his J.D. at the University of Minnesota Law School in 2016, where his coursework and clinical work emphasized injury law, insurance law and employment law.
After law school, Kemmitt moved into practice that put those subjects at the center of his work. Early years in smaller firms and clinics gave him steady courtroom time and hands-on client work. He took on everything from initial case intake to trial preparation. The result was a steady grounding in litigation mechanics and the practical demands of representing people and businesses who face disputes over injuries, policies and workplace problems.
Kemmitt’s approach is direct. He breaks complex claim facts into clear issues. He prepares cases to be understood by judges, juries and opposing counsel. That has meant drafting motions, arguing evidentiary matters and negotiating settlements. He also spends time investigating claims and coordinating with medical and vocational experts when cases require them. The work is detail-heavy. He tends to match that with a preference for careful file management and measured advocacy.
His practice concentrates on three overlapping areas. In personal injury matters he handles the common work of pursuing damages after automobile collisions and other injury events. In insurance disputes he pursues coverage questions and fights denials when policyholders believe benefits are due. In employment matters he handles claims arising from termination, wage issues and other workplace disputes. The blend of these three areas often produces cases that cross lines between bodily harm, coverage and employment law, and he addresses those intersections in client counseling and litigation strategy.
Kemmitt is a lawyer at Kemmitt, Sanford, & Kramer Law PLLC. At the firm he works on case evaluation, motion practice and settlement negotiation. Colleagues describe him as methodical and thorough in file preparation. Outside the office he has continued education in subjects tied to injury, insurance and employment law. He maintains professional memberships and participates in continuing legal education.
He currently concentrates his practice on personal injury, insurance and employment matters.
