About Michael
Michael Karst earned a B.A. from Butler University in 2010, where he studied electronic media and political science. He continued his legal education at the University of Akron School of Law and received his J.D. in 2013. While at Akron, he completed a Certificate in Litigation that supplemented his classroom studies and prepared him for courtroom practice.
His first summer in the law came in 2011, when he served as a summer associate for the Fraternal Order Police of Ohio. After graduating, he joined Jeffries, Kube, Forrest & Monteleone Co., L.P.A. as an associate in 2013. That position marked the start of his practice in Ohio courts and provided early exposure to the procedural and substantive work of a litigation practice.
In 2020 Karst moved to Kastner, Westman & Wilkins, LLC, where he works as an associate lawyer. The change reflected a steady progression in his career. His work has been concentrated in matters that require appearances in state and federal venues where he holds admission.
Beyond firm work, Karst is active in legal and community circles. He holds memberships in the Akron Bar Association and the Ohio State Bar, both since 2013, and belongs to the Ohio Association for Justice. He participates in local government through the Copley Township Zoning Commission. He also serves as an instructor and coach at the University of Akron School of Law and judges the Ohio Center for Law-Related Education High School Mock Trial Competition. Outside the courtroom he volunteers with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.
Karst is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Ohio and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio. He combines his litigation training and courtroom admissions to represent clients in state and federal proceedings. He practices civil litigation in Ohio and before the federal districts where he is admitted.
