About Michael K.
Michael K. Miller brings a combined background in law and accounting to his practice. He earned a J.D. from the University of Virginia in 1989 after completing an M.S. in Accounting at the same institution in 1984. Before that he studied professional accountancy at Mississippi State University, where he received his B.A. in 1982. His academic training set a foundation for work that crosses corporate, tax and regulatory lines.
He began his legal career in New York as an associate at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP in 1989. Early years at a large firm exposed him to complex transactional and tax matters. In 1993 he spent time in Canada as an adjunct professor at the University of Sherbrooke in Sherbrooke, Quebec. That academic stint reflected an interest in teaching and in comparative aspects of law and taxation.
Miller returned to private practice in the United States and served as counsel at Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge LLP in 1998. He then moved in-house in 2003, taking on the roles of General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Dycom Industries, Inc. His in-house experience involved corporate governance, contract negotiations and compliance issues. Those roles added practical corporate management responsibilities to his earlier transactional work.
He is board certified in Tax Law by The Florida Bar, a credential that aligns with his accounting background and years of tax-related practice. Miller has been a member of the Florida State Bar since 1989. He also participates in professional groups including the Palm Beach County Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the American Society of Tax Problem Solvers. These memberships reflect an ongoing engagement with the legal and tax communities.
Today he maintains The Law Office of Michael K. Miller, P.A., where he practices in Florida. His combined experience—Big Law, academia, and corporate counsel—shapes how he advises clients on tax issues and corporate matters. He handles tax law, corporate counseling and related matters in his current practice.
