About Michael J.
Michael J. Jurista graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 2004 with a B.A. in economics. He earned his J.D. from New York Law School in 2008. Those academic years set his path into private practice and in-house work across two states.
He began his legal career in 2008 as an associate at Genova Burns. That first role placed him in a firm environment handling client matters and learning litigation and transactional practice. In 2011 he moved to Ambrosio & Associates LLC, serving first as an associate and later of counsel. That period broadened his firm-side experience. In 2018 he transitioned to an in-house role as general counsel for Chafia Capital Partners, where he handled corporate legal work for the company. In 2021 he launched his own firm, becoming owner and managing member of Jurista Law LLC.
Jurista is admitted to practice in both New Jersey and New York. His professional record includes a mix of firm and in-house positions that involved corporate, transactional and client counseling work. He has represented business clients, advised on corporate governance issues, and managed legal risks for employers. Those responsibilities have been a through line from his earliest associate work to his time as general counsel.
He has been involved in local professional circles as well. Jurista held membership in the Brennan-Vanderbilt American Inn of Court from 2011 to 2012, participating in programs that emphasize ethics and trial skills. That engagement reflects an interest in practical litigation and courtroom procedure alongside transactional practice.
Today he leads Jurista Law LLC. The firm serves clients in matters arising under New Jersey and New York law. He draws on experience from both firm practice and in-house counsel work to advise business clients, handle transactional matters, and address corporate governance questions. His current practice concentrates on counseling businesses and managing legal issues for clients across the two jurisdictions.
