About Michael J.

Michael J. Crawford built his legal education step by step. He earned an associate degree in business at Navarro College, followed by a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas A&M University–Commerce in 2004. He completed his Juris Doctor at Southern Methodist University in 2006.

Early in his career Crawford gained courtroom exposure through internships and clinical work. In 2007 he worked at the Law Office of Robert C. Dunn and spent time at the Navarro County District Lawyer Office. The next year he participated in the Prosecution Clinic at SMU Dedman School of Law and worked with the Dallas County District Lawyer Office. Those experiences put him behind the scenes in both prosecutorial settings and private practice environments.

Crawford practices in Texas and before the Federal Circuit. He earned board certification in criminal law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 2019. That credential is one marker of his professional standing and speaks to concentrated practice in criminal matters.

Outside casework he has joined several professional organizations. He is a member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association since 2010 and the National Criminal Defense Lawyers Association since 2011. He holds membership in the College of the State Bar of Texas, a status he has held since 2012. Locally, he is part of the Navarro County Bar Association since 2010. These affiliations place him in networks that include trial attorneys, defense practitioners, and peers across the state.

Crawford maintains an office presence in Ellis and Dallas counties. His background combines early prosecutorial clinic work with private practice experience and courtroom time at multiple levels. The combination of hands-on internships and a board certification frames a practice that centers on criminal law.

Colleagues and clients describe him as straightforward in court and attentive in preparation. He has handled matters that require familiarity with both state procedures and federal appellate practice. His work routinely involves arraignments, pretrial motions, trials, and post-conviction matters, reflecting a caseload typical for criminal defense lawyers operating in the region.

He currently practices criminal law in Texas and represents clients in both state and federal matters.
