About Michael J
Michael J Bace built his legal foundation at the University of New Hampshire, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in history and political science. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from New England Law | Boston. The academic path placed him in New England’s legal community early on and set the stage for a practice centered in Massachusetts.
Shortly after law school he joined the Massachusetts legal bar. He has been a member of the Massachusetts State Bar since 2007. Over the years he also became active in local bar organizations. He holds memberships in the Boston Bar Association and the Essex County Bar Association. He is also a member of the Massachusetts Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
Those affiliations reflect the circles in which he practices. Colleagues and peers know him for steady courtroom presence and a practical approach to casework. He has worked on matters that are civil and criminal in nature, often representing clients in state courts across Massachusetts. He combines courtroom time with case preparation, research and client counseling.
Bace’s practice is anchored in Massachusetts law. He keeps current on state criminal procedure and statutory changes through his association memberships and participation in local bar activities. That involvement gives him regular access to continuing legal education and the informal discussions that shape day-to-day practice. It also keeps him connected to the professional community in both Boston and Essex County.
Clients encounter a lawyer comfortable in both negotiated resolutions and contested hearings. He prepares for trials but also evaluates when a negotiated settlement best serves a client’s interests. His educational background in history and political science informs his attention to context and procedural detail. Those skills show up in motions, client interviews and courtroom argument.
Outside of direct casework he participates in bar association events and panels when schedules allow. Those engagements help him remain engaged with developments in criminal law and regional practice issues. He is not a public figure outside the local bar community; instead, he concentrates on the work of representing individuals and answering the practical questions their cases raise.
He maintains a Massachusetts-based practice that handles criminal defense and related matters.
