About Michael F
Michael F McMahon grew up leaning toward public service and law. He earned a B.A. in political science, with a minor in philosophy, from Loyola University Chicago in 1990. He completed his J.D. at Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology in 1993.
Early in his career McMahon worked in prosecution. He served as an assistant state's attorney in the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office, handling matters on behalf of the county and gaining courtroom experience. That work exposed him to criminal procedure, local government concerns and the practical side of county-level legal work.
McMahon later moved into administrative and regulatory roles. He served as an Illinois Liquor Control Commissioner, a post that required familiarity with state regulatory processes and administrative hearings. He has also acted as legal counsel to the Senate President in the Illinois Senate, advising on legislative language, statutory interpretation and policy questions that crossed into legal territory.
On the local-government side, McMahon has been an elected member of the DuPage County Board representing District 3. His time on the board brought him into contact with budgetary decisions, land-use issues and the everyday operations of county government. He has combined that public service with continuing ties to the county legal community.
McMahon maintains memberships in the DuPage County Bar Association and serves on the board of the Irish Fellowship Club. He is involved with the DuPage County Children’s Advocacy Center and is active in the DuPage County Republican Organization. Those affiliations reflect a mix of professional, civic and community interests that run alongside his legal work.
He now operates out of McMahon Law Offices. His background spans prosecution, regulatory commissions, legislative counsel and county governance. That mix informs how he approaches cases and client matters. His practice addresses administrative and municipal issues, licensing matters and local-government concerns.
Colleagues describe him as a lawyer who knows the structures of Illinois government and county administration. He combines courtroom experience from his years as an assistant state's attorney with knowledge gained from state-level regulatory and legislative roles. He continues to accept matters at McMahon Law Offices, handling administrative, municipal and local-government related legal work.
