About Michael F.
Michael F. Hancock built a career that ties courtroom work to community service. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business from the University of Florida in 1979 and a Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law in 1985. Those academic years laid the groundwork for a practice centered on accident and injury matters.
He began practicing in the 1990s and joined Gunn, Ogden & Sullivan, P.A. as an associate in 1992. Four years later he moved into a leadership role as a partner at Hancock Injury Lawyers, a firm that handles accident cases. He has been associated with that firm since 1996 and continues to work there in a partner capacity.
Hancock is admitted to practice in Florida and Texas, and he is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. The Florida Supreme Court has certified him as a Circuit Court Mediator, a credential that complements his courtroom work and client-facing responsibilities.
His professional network is extensive. He has been active in the North Tampa Bar Association since 2011 and served as its president from 2016 to 2018. He also holds memberships in the Hillsborough County Bar Association, the Tampa Bay Trial Lawyers Association, the Florida Justice Association, the Hernando Bar Association and the East Pasco Bar Association. Earlier affiliations include the American Bar Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.
Outside the courtroom he has taken on civic and educational roles. He has served on the Carrollwood Civic Association board since 2006 and provided legal counsel there. He sat on the Trinity School for Children board from 2009 to 2011 and has volunteered with the University of Florida's Lake Watch Program in Tampa since 2009. Local business groups also count him as a member, including the Carrollwood Area Business Association.
Those varied roles reflect a practice that mixes litigation, mediation and community involvement. Colleagues describe him as experienced in handling accident-related claims and familiar with trial procedures and pretrial dispute resolution. He maintains active membership in trial and local bar organizations and continues to participate in civic boards and volunteer programs.
He currently practices at Hancock Injury Lawyers, where he handles accident and personal injury matters.
