His clerkship solidified his commitment to serving clients in the area of estate law. In Oregon, Michael is an active member of the Oregon State Bar, where he has contributed significantly to the Elder Law Section. He served as chair of the Agency and Professional Relations Subcommittee, fostering dialogue between the legal community and Oregon’s Department of Human Services. His leadership in this role has been instrumental in addressing the needs of seniors and individuals with disabilities. From 2005 to 2008, he served on the Board of Directors for the Oregon Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, further demonstrating his commitment to advocacy in this field. Currently, Michael serves on the Board of Directors for Store to Door, a non-profit organization that supports independent living for seniors and people with disabilities.
His fluency in Spanish has allowed him to serve as an interpreter in various settings, including Colorado courts, bridging communication gaps for non-English speakers. He has authored numerous articles and continuing legal education materials, frequently speaking to attorneys, financial professionals, and caregivers on topics related to seniors and individuals with disabilities. Outside of his professional life, Michael enjoys spending time with his family and friends, watching his children participate in sports, reading, and taking long walks with his dog, Maple.
