About Michael Douglas

Michael Douglas Jewell trained as a lawyer after completing graduate studies at the University of San Diego, where he earned a J.D. in 2012 and took coursework in business and corporate law. He earlier studied at Utah State University, earning a bachelor's degree in English and political science. He brings both classroom training and early in-house exposure to how businesses operate and the legal choices they make.

His first known legal role after law school was as general counsel at ExtraFunds.com, LLC in 2012. That position placed him inside an operating company, handling day-to-day legal needs as the business navigated contracts, regulatory questions and vendor relationships. He moved from that in-house seat to a private practice path and established Jewell PLLC in 2014. Since then he has run his own practice, handling matters that commonly arise for small and mid-sized enterprises.

Jewell practiced under the laws of Utah. He is active in the state’s legal market and has built a practice that mixes transactional work with counseling. His experience includes drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, advising on corporate governance and providing general legal advice to business clients. He also handles compliance-related questions that flow from commercial operations, and he has assisted clients through routine corporate filings and organizational matters.

Colleagues and clients have encountered him in settings typical of a small firm lawyer: board meetings, contract negotiations and client calls where quick, practical answers are required. His time as in-house counsel informs how he approaches client problems. He tends to emphasize practical risk assessment and clear, usable documents rather than abstract legal theory.

Outside the office he holds current membership in professional legal associations. That involvement has kept him connected to peers in Utah’s legal community and up to date on practice developments and local rules. He has not been publicly identified as holding any judicial or academic posts.

Today he practices from Jewell PLLC in Utah. He represents businesses and business owners on transactional issues, corporate governance, contract matters and routine regulatory compliance, handling both preventative counseling and transactional work for clients.
