About Michael
Michael Benavides is an attorney based in Sacramento who built his legal foundation at Florida Coastal School of Law, where he earned his J.D. The law school shaped his early approach to litigation and client advocacy. He moved into practice ready to handle contested matters and the procedural demands of court work.
He joined Sacramento Law Group LLP and rose to partner in 2016. In that role he took on responsibility for managing cases, mentoring junior attorneys and overseeing courtroom strategy. His record at the firm includes handling trials, contested hearings and negotiated settlements for clients facing family law disputes.
Benavides is admitted to the State Bar of California and is listed as a current member. He is also admitted to practice in the Northern and Eastern Districts of California. Those admissions allow him to file and appear in both state and federal matters where they arise. He has litigated across Sacramento and the surrounding counties, appearing routinely in family court for hearings on custody, support and property issues.
Colleagues describe his courtroom work as steady and direct. He prepares pleadings and motions, takes and defends depositions, and presents evidence at trial. He also handles the transactional side of family law: drafting settlement agreements, negotiating property divisions and working through spousal support calculations. His practice involves both contested litigation and efforts to resolve disputes outside the courtroom when that is possible.
Clients meet him at the firm’s Sacramento office, where he manages a caseload of divorce and related family law matters. His work touches on child custody and visitation, domestic violence restraining orders, division of assets and debt, and support issues. He balances courtroom advocacy with case management and client communication, overseeing each matter from filing through resolution.
Over the years he has remained engaged in the legal community through his standing in the State Bar of California and his work at Sacramento Law Group LLP. He continues to litigate in state and federal forums as needed. He currently focuses his practice on divorce and family law matters in Sacramento.
