About Michael Anthony

Michael Anthony Malia builds a practice around courtroom work and complex civil disputes. He is a trial lawyer by training who has pursued specialized study in advocacy and a range of certifications that recognize courtroom competence.

His academic path began at the University of Scranton, where he completed a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Business in 1993. He earned a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1997. He later completed an LL.M. in Trial Advocacy at Temple University Beasley School of Law in 2002, finishing the program in 2003. Those credentials underpin a career spent largely in litigation.

Mr. Malia is admitted to practice in multiple jurisdictions. He holds bar privileges in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, and he is admitted to the bar of the U.S. Supreme Court. That multi-jurisdictional standing has shaped the types of matters he handles and the courts in which he appears.

His professional certifications are specific to trial work. The Supreme Court of New Jersey has certified him as a Civil Trial Lawyer. He also holds two certifications from the National Board of Trial Advocacy: Civil Trial Law and Civil Pretrial Practice Law. Those credentials reflect formal recognition of courtroom and pretrial skills rather than a general practice label.

He is active in several professional organizations. He is a current member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, a participant in the Defense Research Institute and a member of the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance. Within the New Jersey Defense Association he serves as Secretary/Treasurer, a leadership spot that combines administrative duties with engagement in the state defense bar.

His office affiliation is with Peri & Stewart, LLC. At that firm he works on matters that require trial preparation, motion practice and handling of complex civil litigation across state and federal forums. He often handles pretrial strategy and courtroom presentation for defendants and insurers in civil disputes.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in trial preparation and direct in court. He continues to accept matters in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania and maintains the certifications that align with civil trial and pretrial practice. He currently concentrates his practice on civil trial work and pretrial practice in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.
