About Michael A.
Michael A. Freedman built a legal foundation in Maryland's public universities. He received his B.A. from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1959 and went on to earn an LL.B. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law in 1963. Those years placed him among a generation of lawyers who entered practice during a period of significant change in civil procedure and tort law.
His career spans decades of courtroom work and community involvement. Beginning in the years after law school, he developed courtroom experience that later informed his approach to client representation. In 2016 he joined the Maryland Bar Foundation’s Montgomery County Pro Bono Program, an affiliation that continues to the present. The pro bono work added a public-service dimension to a practice grounded in litigation.
He has long associated with organizations that support trial lawyers and civil plaintiffs. He is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the Maryland Association of Justice. Those memberships reflect sustained engagement with peers and continuing legal education. He was also recognized by the American Institute of Personal Injury Lawyers as one of its "10 Best in Client Satisfaction," an accolade that points to client feedback rather than internal rankings.
Freedman has maintained offices in the Baltimore area, operating from locations in Owings Mills and Glen Burnie. Those offices have served clients from suburban and urban communities across Maryland. Over the years his work has included courtroom representation and client counseling in matters that led him to remain active in trial-oriented bar groups and pro bono programs.
He combines trial experience, bar association participation, and pro bono service in his ongoing practice. Colleagues describe him as a lawyer who continued to engage in the mechanics of litigation while also contributing time to public-service programs. He currently practices in Maryland and maintains his offices in Owings Mills and Glen Burnie. His current practice centers on personal injury and trial work.
