About Micah F.

Micah F. McBride trained first as a business student and then as a lawyer. He earned a B.S. in Business Management with a concentration in Marketing from Brigham Young University and returned to BYU for his J.D. His academic path gave him an early grounding in commercial thinking and the mechanics of persuasion, both useful in courtroom and transactional settings.

After law school, McBride entered private practice. He is listed as a lawyer with Shumway Van and splits his time between the firm’s San Antonio and Salt Lake City offices. He is admitted to practice in both Texas and Utah, and his work often requires stepping between two legal regimes and the practical differences they create for clients.

Colleagues describe McBride as methodical. He approaches legal problems by breaking them into discrete issues and then addressing each in turn. That style reflects his combined business and legal training. It also suits matters that require close attention to procedure and to contract terms. He maintains a membership in Phi Delta Phi, an international legal fraternity, and that affiliation keeps him connected to a network of practitioners and recent developments in the profession.

McBride’s daily practice is grounded in the realities of serving clients across state lines. He spends part of his week in San Antonio and part in Salt Lake City, meeting clients, attending hearings and coordinating with local counsel when cases touch multiple jurisdictions. The split-office arrangement informs how he manages files, prepares witnesses and marshals evidence for different courts.

Outside the office, he keeps up with continuing legal education and the practical side of managing client matters. He is selective about the cases he accepts, preferring matters where planning and careful drafting can have a measurable effect on the outcome. He also places value on clear communication; clients, he says, need to understand options and likely risks in plain terms.

McBride’s career so far ties together business training, legal education and the experience of practicing in two states. He currently practices at Shumway Van, handling legal matters across Texas and Utah and coordinating work from the firm’s San Antonio and Salt Lake City offices.
