About Micah
Micah Echols built a legal life around courtrooms and appellate briefs. He grew up studying language and law, and his career has threaded through state trial work and federal appellate practice.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Brigham Young University in 1999. He returned to BYU for law school and received his J.D. in 2003. Those years shaped the early practical skills he would use in Nevada courts.
Fresh out of law school he served as a law clerk for the Eighth Judicial District Court in Las Vegas. That clerkship placed him at the center of civil dockets and gave him direct exposure to trial procedure and judicial decision-making. Later in 2003 he joined Marquis Aurbach Coffing as a lawyer, moving from the clerk’s bench into private practice.
Echols’s career later moved to Claggett & Sykes Law Office, where he is listed as a lawyer beginning in 2020. His work spans filings at the trial level and appearances in appellate settings. The record shows admissions to several appellate and federal forums: the U.S. Supreme Court, the Ninth Circuit, the Federal Circuit, and the Nevada bar. Those admissions allow him to handle matters that cross state and federal lines.
Professional associations have been part of his career rhythm. He has been active in the Nevada Justice Association and the Clark County Bar Association since 2004. He has also served on the CLE Committee of the State Bar of Nevada since 2009. These roles place him in conversations about continuing legal education and the local legal community’s priorities.
Colleagues and court filings reflect practice that covers litigation tasks typical of a Nevada civil practitioner, including trial preparation, motion practice, and appellate briefs. His background in Spanish provides an additional communicative resource in Nevada’s multilingual environment, particularly when cases involve Spanish-speaking clients or witnesses.
Courtroom work, appellate filings and bar committee service mark the arc of his career. He maintains an active practice at Claggett & Sykes Law Office and appears in both state and federal venues. He concentrates his current practice on litigation and appellate work in Nevada and federal courts.
