About Meredith G.
Meredith G. Schmid built her legal foundation at two East Coast universities and has spent the years since moving into practice and bar work across multiple jurisdictions. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Politics from Pennsylvania State University in 1997 and completed her Juris Doctor at George Mason University School of Law in 2002. Those academic credentials framed an early interest in public service and trial work.
After law school she entered government work and, in 2009, served as a lawyer advisor for the United States Department of Justice. That role placed her inside federal legal processes and exposed her to litigation strategy and policy work. She left the department and later transitioned back to private practice, bringing that federal experience to bear for individual and institutional clients.
In 2017 she opened Schmid Law Offices and has operated the firm since then. The firm serves clients across the states where she is licensed. Schmid is admitted to practice in Maine, the District of Columbia and New Hampshire. Operating a small firm has allowed her to take on trial work and to manage the business of a law office while remaining engaged in case preparation and courtroom matters.
Her bar and professional memberships run from local bar associations to trial organizations. She joined the DC Bar Association in 2003. She has been a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association since 2016 and, beginning in 2017, became active in the York County Bar Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association and the Maine Trial Lawyers Association. These memberships reflect ongoing participation in regional legal communities and trial-oriented groups.
Colleagues describe her as someone who combines government experience with hands-on practice at the firm level. She has handled litigation and advisory matters stemming from both public and private roles. The office carries a mailing address and operates under the name Schmid Law Offices. Her current practice centers on representing clients in matters across Maine, New Hampshire and the District of Columbia.
