About Melissa
Melissa Vo built her legal foundation in Philadelphia and returned to New York to practice. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, then completed a Juris Doctor at Temple University Beasley School of Law. Those campus years shaped her analytical approach and prepared her for courtroom work.
After law school Ms. Vo took the early steps of a litigator’s path. She gained admission to the New York bar and is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. Those credentials allow her to handle matters in both state and federal forums.
In 2022 she joined Phillips & Associates, Lawyers at Law, PLLC. At that firm she has handled filings and appearances in New York courts and federal district courts. Her docket work has included drafting motions, responding to discovery, and representing clients at hearings. Colleagues describe her approach as detail-oriented and practical; she prepares papers with an eye toward the next procedural step and the client’s objectives.
Her membership in the State Bar of New York keeps her connected to developments in court rules and professional standards. She participates in continuing legal education and maintains an active standing in the bar. Those activities inform the way she evaluates case risk and structures litigation timelines.
Vo’s practice blends written advocacy and courtroom presence. She spends time on research and brief-writing, and she seeks early opportunities to narrow disputes through procedural measures. When matters proceed to hearings, she handles oral argument and evidence presentation. Her work requires juggling deadlines and coordinating with opposing counsel, experts, and court staff.
Her colleagues note an attention to detail that shows in motion practice and procedural strategy. She keeps clients apprised of progress and explains next steps in plain terms. That method aims to make complex litigation more understandable for people who are not steeped in procedure.
She is based at Phillips & Associates, Lawyers at Law, PLLC, and appears regularly in New York state and federal court. Her current practice centers on matters brought in New York courts and in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
