Most of her current work involves representing clients in personal injury cases, where she navigates the details of liability and damages. She also assists clients facing criminal charges, including DUI & DWI offenses. In family law, she handles divorce proceedings, mediation, and domestic violence cases. Her approach often includes alternative dispute resolution methods, as she is certified as a Family Financial Mediator and a Superior Court Mediator. In addition to her legal practice, Melissa is an active member of several professional associations, including the North Carolina Bar Association and the New Hanover County Bar Association.
She is also a member of the United States Supreme Court Bar. This lets the attorney represent clients at the highest level.
