About Melissa G.

Melissa G. Mateus graduated from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 2015 after earning a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Sacred Heart University in 2009. She built her legal education on a combination of study and practical training. Those years set the stage for a practice rooted in Connecticut.

Licensed to practice in Connecticut, Mateus established her career in the state where she trained. She moved from classroom to courtroom and client meetings, applying the skills learned in law school to real cases. Over time she has concentrated her work on injury matters and related litigation.

Her work at Gould Injury Law places her in the middle of civil litigation and client advocacy. She handles case development, evidence review, and the negotiations that often follow formal filings. She appears in state courts and deals with insurance-related disputes, aiming to resolve claims through settlement when possible and taking cases to trial when necessary.

Colleagues describe her as methodical and direct in her approach to casework. She pays close attention to factual detail and timelines, and she emphasizes clear communication with clients about the steps a case will take. That combination of careful preparation and straightforward counsel shapes how she manages client expectations and interacts with opposing counsel.

In routine practice she manages pretrial discovery and motions, meets with experts, and prepares witnesses for testimony. She also oversees the drafting of pleadings and settlement documents. Her day-to-day work involves both litigation strategy and client counseling, balancing the technical demands of trial preparation with the practical considerations clients face after an injury.

Outside of court, Mateus has been involved in continuing legal education and professional development opportunities appropriate to practicing attorneys. She maintains an active presence in the Connecticut legal community and continues to adapt to procedural and substantive changes in state law.

She is currently an attorney at Gould Injury Law, where she represents individuals in injury cases throughout Connecticut. Her practice concentrates on serving clients who have suffered physical harm and seeking remedies available under state law.
