About Melissa Deann
Melissa Deann Fanoe trained as a writer before she trained as a lawyer. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in English, then continued her studies at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, where she earned her J.D. in 2010. Those years shaped how she approaches legal work: careful drafting, attention to narrative, and an eye for detail.
After finishing law school, Fanoe began her legal career in California. Early roles included courtroom work and client counseling, where she learned the practical rhythms of litigation and client service. She has spent much of her time working directly with individuals and small businesses, handling the everyday problems that bring people to an attorney’s door.
Her background in English complements legal practice. She writes pleadings and contracts with an emphasis on clarity. Outside the office she has continued professional development and kept up with changes in state practice and procedure. She maintains professional relationships across the California legal community and draws on those connections when cases require outside expertise. She currently practices through the Law Office of Melissa Fanoe, representing clients in California.
