About Melinda Murphy

Melinda Murphy Dionne earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alabama in 1983 and continued there for law school, receiving her J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1986. While at the law school she was an active member of the 1985–1986 National Trial Advocacy Team. She also served on the Moot Court Board during the same period and belonged to the Bench & Bar Legal Honor Society. Those early activities gave her significant courtroom exposure while she was still a student.

She was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1986 and remains a current member of that bar. Her professional authorizations include the state courts of Alabama and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Over the years she has maintained a practice that appears in both state and federal forums, relying on trial and appellate procedures she began learning in law school.

Dionne’s career has centered on litigation. She has handled matters that required appearances in Alabama courts and filings at the federal appellate level. The record of her law school activities signals an early interest in trial work and legal argument. Colleagues and clients have known her for an approach that pairs courtroom preparation with attention to procedural detail.

Her work has been conducted out of offices in Birmingham and Tuscaloosa. Those locations place her in the heart of Alabama’s legal community and give her access to both metropolitan and regional dockets. Operating from two offices has allowed her to serve a wider range of clients across the state while maintaining a consistent presence in local courthouses.

Throughout a multi-decade career that began after her 1986 graduation, Dionne has continued practicing in the courts where she is admitted. She is authorized to appear before the 11th Circuit and is a long-standing member of the Alabama State Bar. She currently practices from offices in Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, representing clients in Alabama state and federal courts.
