About Maxwell A.
Maxwell A. Hills began his legal path with a liberal arts degree from the University of California, Irvine in 2009. He went on to earn his J.D. from Loyola University New Orleans in 2013. Those academic years set the groundwork for a mix of courtroom exposure and in-house experience that followed.
Early in his career he served as a law clerk to the Honorable J. Zainey of the United States District Court in 2011. That clerkship gave him a firsthand view of federal practice and judicial decision-making. In 2012 he worked on content protection projects for 21st Century Fox and spent time at a private firm, Mower & Carreon, LLP, gaining practical experience across different legal settings.
After law school he entered private practice as an associate at Hughes & Hughes, LLP in 2013. The next year he joined Bremer, Whyte, Brown & O'Meara, LLP as an associate, where he handled a range of matters. In 2015 he opened his own firm, Hills Law Group. Since founding the firm he has managed its growth and directed client work across multiple case types.
Hills maintains memberships in a number of professional and community organizations. He has been active in the Orange County Bar Association and the American Bar Association since 2013. He also holds memberships with the Corona Del Mar and Newport Beach chambers of commerce beginning in 2015. His work has received peer recognition: he appears in listings from Super Lawyers and Super Lawyers Rising Stars for 2018 and 2019, and he was named among the American Institute of Family Law Lawyers’ 10 Best Family Law Lawyers for California from 2016 through 2019.
The mix of experiences—courtroom assistantship, in-house content protection work, and years in private practice—shapes the kind of matters he handles. He has been recognized for work in family law and continues to represent clients in related disputes. He also draws on his content protection background when cases present media or intellectual property issues.
He is admitted to the California State Bar and remains active in local professional circles. His current practice centers on family law matters and related litigation at Hills Law Group.
