About Maureen
Maureen Davidson-Welling built an academic foundation that spans engineering, geography and law. She earned a B.A. in Geography and Environmental Engineering from Johns Hopkins University in 1995, followed by an M.A. in Geography and Urban Planning from the University of Toronto in 1999. She then completed her J.D. at the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2001.
Her legal career includes both public interest work and private practice. In 2006 she served as a summer associate at Community Legal Services. The following year she joined Stember Feinstein Doyle Payne & Kravec, LLC as an associate. That move set the stage for a longer tenure at the same stable of firms; in 2013 she became a partner at Stember Cohn & Davidson-Welling.
Those years in practice have involved courtroom work and client advocacy. Her memberships tell part of the story: she holds current membership in the National Employment Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice. She is also active in local and professional circles, including the Allegheny County Bar Association and The American Inns of Court. The affiliations reflect regular engagement with employment and civil litigation issues and continuing legal education.
Colleagues describe her approach as methodical. She breaks complex problems into manageable parts. She prepares evidence and argument carefully. In the courtroom she relies on clear presentation rather than theatrics. That temperament fits the steady work of trying cases and handling contested matters.
Over time she has taken on more responsibility inside the firm. As partner she handles case strategy, client counseling and the training of junior lawyers. She has experience shepherding matters from intake through trial. The record at the firm shows repeated involvement in litigation and in settlement negotiations on behalf of clients in the region.
She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and keeps an active role in bar activities. She appears regularly before state courts and coordinates with co-counsel when matters cross into other jurisdictions or administrative forums. Her current practice concentrates on employment and civil litigation matters.
