About Matthieu J
Matthieu J Parenteau studied on both coasts before beginning his legal career. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Portland State University in 2007 and completed his Juris Doctor at Suffolk University Law School in 2010. Those academic years set the stage for a practice that has centered on litigation and courtroom work.
He began practicing soon after law school. In 2010 he volunteered with the Volunteer Lawyers Project of the Boston Bar Association, handling intake and client advising in a pro bono capacity. The next year he joined Mazow | McCullough, PC as a litigation lawyer, where he worked on civil disputes and assisted in motions practice and discovery.
In 2016 he moved into a senior associate role at Sheff Law. That position expanded his responsibilities in case strategy and courtroom preparation. Over time his work shifted toward managing more complex litigation and preparing matters for trial. In 2021 he took a trial lawyer position at Sweeney Merrigan Law, taking on trial assignments and representing clients in contested proceedings.
Parenteau holds memberships in several professional organizations. He is a member of the State Bar of Massachusetts and the Maine State Bar. He also belongs to the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Lawyers and the American Association for Justice. Those memberships reflect an ongoing engagement with trial practice and the professional communities that support civil litigation.
Today he practices at Sweeney Merrigan Law. His work involves preparing cases for trial, handling discovery disputes, and representing clients in court. He focuses his practice on litigation and trial representation at Sweeney Merrigan Law.
