About Matthew

Matthew Tranter earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2015. He arrived at law school after undergraduate studies and completed a course of study that included the practical and doctrinal work that shapes early-career lawyers. The degree positioned him to begin practice in Maryland, where he is licensed to work.

Straight out of law school he moved into firm practice. Over the years he has served as an associate at Murphy, Falcon & Murphy. In that role he has taken on the steady, often behind-the-scenes legal work that supports cases and clients. He has handled legal research, drafted pleadings and motions, and assisted in the preparation of trial and hearing materials.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in courtroom preparation and careful in written advocacy. He works on case development from intake through discovery and the motions process. That work requires keeping close to the facts, managing deadlines and coordinating with senior attorneys. The role has also meant regular client contact, explaining procedural steps and helping clients understand options as matters progress.

He maintains current professional memberships that connect him to peers and continuing education opportunities. Those affiliations help him stay current on changes in Maryland law and procedural practice. He has used those resources to refine courtroom technique and to understand evolving statutory and regulatory questions that affect his clients.

Within the firm Tranter contributes to a mix of litigation support and client counseling. He assists in trial preparation when matters proceed to adjudication, and he is involved in routine negotiation and settlement discussions when cases resolve outside court. His day-to-day work combines document review, drafting substantive legal briefs and coordinating with experts when cases require technical or specialized input.

Clients and colleagues see him as an operator who attends to detail. He arranges and reviews filings, tracks discovery schedules and ensures that case records are organized for trial. His law school training and subsequent practice experience have given him a steady base of litigation skills and courtroom familiarity.

He currently practices law as an associate at Murphy, Falcon & Murphy in Maryland.
