About Matthew
Matthew Springmeyer took a deliberate path into law. He studied English at the University of Utah and earned his B.A. in 2010. He then moved to San Diego and completed his J.D. at California Western School of Law in 2013.
Early practical experience shaped his interests. While in law school he worked as an intern for the San Diego Public Defender’s Multiple Conflicts Office and spent time at the Legal Aid Society of San Diego handling unlawful detainer and restraining order matters. He also served as a judicial extern for the United States District Court for the Southern District of California under Magistrate Judge Ruben B. Brooks and interned with the United States District Court in the Southern District of California.
After passing the bar, Springmeyer joined Casey & Wood, LLP as an associate in 2013. He gained courtroom experience at the state level and handled matters that brought him into contact with both criminal and civil systems. Three years later he opened his own firm. In 2016 he founded the Law Office of Matthew H. Springmeyer and has operated that practice since.
Springmeyer is admitted to practice in California and in federal courts. His federal admissions include the United States District Court for the Southern District of California and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has maintained active membership in the State Bar of California since 2013.
Professional associations reflect recurring themes in his practice. He belongs to organizations that include the California Public Defenders Association, the California DUI Lawyers Association, the National College of DUI Defense, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. He is also a member of the American Bar Association. Those memberships mirror work he has handled across criminal defense, DUI-related matters and immigration-related issues.
Colleagues describe him as practical in court and methodical in preparation. He has blended trial exposure from public defender internships with private practice experiences to build a practice that handles contested hearings and federal filings. His work often brings him into state and federal courtrooms.
Matthew Springmeyer continues to practice at the Law Office of Matthew H. Springmeyer. He handles matters in state and federal courts, including criminal defense, DUI and immigration-related cases.
