About Matthew
Matthew Parham is a New York–based attorney whose work spans private practice and legal education. He holds a J.D. from New York University School of Law (2004), an M.A. from Columbia University (1999) and both a B.A. and an M.A. from Johns Hopkins University (1998). Those academic years set the foundation for a career that moved quickly from large-firm litigation to solo practice and then to a regional legal center.
After law school Parham joined Sullivan & Cromwell LLP as a litigation associate in 2005. He spent time in a high-volume corporate litigation environment where he handled research, drafting and courtroom preparation alongside more senior litigators. That early experience gave him a textured view of litigation practice and client representation under tight deadlines.
He launched the Law Offices of Matthew A. Parham in 2010. Running a solo practice required him to shift roles: lawyer, manager and client contact all at once. Two years later he began working at Western New York Law Center, Inc., bringing private-practice experience to a multi-attorney setting. The move shifted his day-to-day work from running a firm to collaborating on client matters with other lawyers in the region.
Parham has balanced practice with teaching. Since 2011 he has served as an adjunct professor at SUNY-Buffalo School of Law. In the classroom he translates practice realities into lessons for law students. His time teaching has run alongside his work in the Western New York legal community and has kept him engaged with the next generation of lawyers.
He is admitted to practice in New York. Over the course of his career he has moved between complex litigation at a national firm, solo practice and work within a regional legal center. The variety of those roles informs how he approaches client problems. As of 2026 he is based at Western New York Law Center, Inc., where he represents clients in cases and matters arising in New York.
