About Matthew
Matthew Momtahan combined study of law and regional planning early in his career. He earned a J.D. from Atlanta's John Marshall Law School after completing both a B.A. in political science and a B.S. in planning and economic development at Georgia State University. That dual academic background shaped his first steps in public service and later in private practice.
His professional life began in local government. In 2005 he worked as a land use planner for the Paulding County Planning & Zoning Department. The planning post gave him regular exposure to zoning rules, development review and the practical side of permitting. He then moved toward law school and legal training, spending an externship year in 2009 at the Georgia Lawyer General's Office where he observed state-level legal work and administrative practice.
After law school he entered private practice as an associate. In 2010 he joined Molden & Holley as an associate lawyer. Three years later he moved to Giacoma Roberts & Daughdrill, again serving as an associate. In 2015 he opened his own firm, The Momtahan Law Office. That step established him as a small-firm owner handling a range of matters across Georgia. He has kept his practice local while participating in regional legal networks.
Momtahan maintains ties to his community and the legal profession. He holds membership in the State Bar of Georgia and has been part of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association. He is active in county bar groups, including the Carroll County Bar Association and the Paulding County Bar Association, and belongs to the West Georgia Trial Lawyers Association. He has taken part in leadership programs as well, completing the State Bar of Georgia Young Lawyers Division Leadership Academy in 2016 and the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Academy in 2019.
His résumé reflects a mix of planning experience, public-sector training and private practice. That combination informs how he approaches problems that touch on local ordinances, administrative processes and courtroom procedure. He runs The Momtahan Law Office and represents clients in matters across Georgia. He operates his firm in Georgia and handles legal matters across the state as his current practice focus.
