About Matthew

Matthew Modelski pursued an academic path that crossed two very different campuses. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Yale University in 2007, having begun his undergraduate studies in 2003. He later returned to formal study of law and received his J.D. from Wayne State University Law School in 2017, after beginning that program in 2014.

After law school he entered legal practice and is admitted to the bar in South Carolina. He has maintained active involvement in professional circles and holds current memberships in legal associations. Those connections inform how he approaches cases and client work, and they keep him engaged with developments in the state’s legal community.

His early years in practice were marked by steady building of a small-firm practice. He established Modelski Law and has served as its principal since founding the office. The record of his daily practice is grounded in the practical demands of representing individuals and businesses in the kinds of matters that arise in state court and transactional work.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in case preparation and clear in client communication. He favors plain language in explaining legal options. He also prioritizes timeliness, striving to move matters forward without unnecessary delay. Those tendencies shape how he staffs files and allocates time across cases.

Clients who seek him out typically want direct answers and practical next steps. He spends substantial time counseling clients early in engagements to define objectives and reduce surprises later on. That counseling often sets the direction for litigation strategy or negotiated outcomes.

As of 2026 he continues to lead Modelski Law. He manages the firm’s caseload and handles both courtroom appearances and transaction work. He balances client-facing responsibilities with the administrative duties that come from running a small firm. He remains an active participant in professional groups and in continuing legal education.

He lives and works in South Carolina and concentrates his legal practice on matters arising in that jurisdiction. His current practice at Modelski Law focuses on serving clients in South Carolina and handling the state-level matters they bring to the firm.
