Matthew Lane Kinley is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1989. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Kinley is the founder and principal of Kinley Law Practice, a law firm located at 180 E Ocean Blvd, Suite 100-J, Long Beach, CA 90802. He has been practicing law for over 36 years, serving clients throughout California.
Mr. Kinley earned his Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles in 1989. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Los Angeles, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1985.
Mr. Kinley concentrates his practice in the areas of business law, litigation, healthcare law, and personal injury. He represents businesses of all sizes, from small business owners to large corporations, assisting with a wide range of business law matters ranging from business formation to transactions. He also provides outside general counsel for a number of clients, including the Downtown Long Beach Alliance (DLBA) and Orange County Medical Association (OCMA). In the healthcare sector, Mr. Kinley represents clients in various aspects of healthcare law, including federal and state laws and regulations, licensing and certificates, Medical Board representation, Medicare and Medicaid law and audit representation, managed care contracting and disputes, fraud and abuse issues, referral disputes, unique healthcare employment issues, HIPAA compliance, and mergers and acquisitions of healthcare practices. Additionally, he represents individuals and their families in catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases.
Throughout his career, Mr. Kinley has handled cases in both state and federal courts, arbitrations, and alternative dispute resolutions. He has developed a successful track record in real estate, business, and corporate disputes. Mr. Kinley served as Managing Partner at Tredway Lumsdaine & Doyle LLP from 2006 to 2011. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
Mr. Kinley is an active member of the American Bar Association – Health Law Section, the American Health Lawyer Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association – Healthcare Section, and the Orange County Bar Association – Healthcare Section. He also founded the California Healthcare Law blog. In the community, he serves as a Commissioner for the Los Angeles County Citizens’ Economy and Efficiency Commission, Chair of the Miller Children’s Hospital Advisory Board, and Board Member of the Long Beach Rotary Club and the Long Beach Ronald McDonald House. He is a Business Partner with the Orange County Medical Association and the Riverside County Medical Association. Mr. Kinley is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of California effectively.
