About Matthew L.
Matthew L. Wilson built his legal foundation at Rutgers. He earned a B.A. in 1984 and a J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law in 1986. Those years set the stage for a career centered on workers' rights and trial work in Pennsylvania.
He has spent his professional life practicing in Pennsylvania. Over time he took on more complex workers' compensation matters and courtroom litigation. He is a certified Pennsylvania Workers' Compensation Specialist through the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Workers' Compensation Law Section, a credential that recognizes additional study and proficiency in that area of law.
Wilson has been active in the bar and in trial circles. He holds current memberships in the Pennsylvania State Bar, the American Association for Justice, the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, the Philadelphia Bar Association and the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association. He joined the Work Injury Litigation Group in 2010 and remains a member. Within the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Workers' Compensation Law Section he served as chair-elect for 2013–2014 and then as chair for 2014–2015, roles that put him in regular contact with judges, fellow counsel and policymakers who shape workers' compensation practice in the state.
His work centers on representing injured workers in hearings, appeals and negotiations. He handles matters that arise under Pennsylvania's workers' compensation system and sees cases through trial where necessary. He prepares evidence, works with medical and vocational experts, and argues cases before workers' compensation judges. He also engages in appellate work when cases raise questions of law that affect benefits or procedure.
Colleagues describe Wilson as someone who spends time inside the courtroom and in the preparation that precedes it. He tends to take on cases that require detailed factual development and persistent advocacy. His certification and bar roles reflect sustained involvement in the specialized rules and practices of workers' compensation law rather than a generalist approach.
He is a partner at Martin Law LLC, where he represents injured workers in Pennsylvania workers' compensation matters.
