About Matthew L.

Matthew L. McDaniel built a career that bridges two very different schools of thought: the disciplined world of the U.S. Merchant Marine and the adversarial pace of courtroom practice. He graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in logistics and intermodal transportation. Years later he earned his J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2011.

The transition from maritime logistics to law was not sudden. The technical training and operational mindset from his undergraduate years gave him an early grasp of regulatory frameworks and complex supply chains. He completed law school in 2011 and moved quickly into the practice of law. He became a member of the Indiana State Bar in 2012 and joined the Kentucky State Bar in 2018, where he remains an active member of both bars.

McDaniel has worked across matters that require attention to process and procedure. He has experience managing clients’ expectations and steering cases through state courts in both Indiana and Kentucky. Court dockets and filing deadlines are familiar terrain. He is comfortable handling detail-heavy matters and the day-to-day demands of litigation and transactional work alike.

Colleagues describe him as methodical. He favors clear timelines, careful preparation, and practical solutions over elaborate litigation plans. That approach shows in how he structures casework and communicates with clients. He does not rely on theatrics. He prepares, files, and follows through.

Outside court, his background in logistics remains a reference point. It informs how he approaches problems that involve transportation, regulatory compliance, or contract performance. He reads contracts with an eye toward implementation. He pays attention to operational realities rather than abstract arguments.

Today McDaniel remains licensed and active in both Indiana and Kentucky. He practices in matters that touch on the intersection of regulatory, transactional and litigation concerns, handling client needs across both states. He currently practices law in both Indiana and Kentucky.
