About Matthew L.

Matthew L. LaMountain took a direct route into the law. He completed his undergraduate work at Salve Regina University, earning a B.A. in Administration of Justice and History in 2003. He then attended Suffolk University Law School and finished his J.D. studies in 2010.

Soon after law school, LaMountain entered public service. In 2011 he served as a Special Assistant in the Rhode Island Office of the Attorney General. That early role placed him inside state practice and exposed him to the procedures and demands of government-side litigation and advisory work. The post is one of his first recorded positions and helped him gain a foothold in the state legal community.

LaMountain moved into private practice in the years that followed. In 2019 he opened his own firm, The Law Office of Matthew L. LaMountain. Running a small firm has required him to handle many tasks at once. He manages client work and the business side of the office. The transition from public office to private practice reflects a common path for lawyers who want to combine courtroom experience with client counseling.

Colleagues describe him as familiar with the Rhode Island court system. He is licensed to practice in Rhode Island and maintains memberships in professional associations. Those ties connect him to local practitioners and to continuing legal education opportunities. He has used those networks to sustain a steady practice over several years.

LaMountain’s background blends state government experience and private-practice responsibility. He draws on his time at the Attorney General’s office when advising clients and when handling procedural matters. At the same time, running his own firm requires attention to individual client needs, scheduling, and case management.

He continues to operate The Law Office of Matthew L. LaMountain in Rhode Island. He handles matters for clients through his private practice and focuses his professional efforts on representing those clients in the state where he is licensed.
