About Matthew

Matthew Kraeuter earned his law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2009 after completing a Bachelor of Science in Business at the University of Delaware in 2000. He moved from a business undergraduate education into law nearly a decade later, a path that informs his approach to legal problems. He trained in Baltimore and has built his career around practice in Maryland and in federal courts that serve the region.

Kraeuter's career blends in-house legal work and private practice. In 2015 he joined Hardwire LLC as general counsel. In that role he served as the company’s chief lawyer and handled the range of legal issues that a corporate counsel encounters, coordinating outside counsel when needed and advising executive leadership. That in-house experience preceded a return to private practice and to litigated work.

In 2020 Kraeuter became a partner at Frost Law. The move placed him in a firm setting where he could combine his corporate-law background with courtroom experience. He maintains admissions to the Maryland bar and is authorized to appear in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. Those admissions allow him to take cases in both state and federal forums.

Colleagues describe Kraeuter as methodical and direct. He favors clear analysis over legal theory for its own sake. He prepares written work intended to be useful in negotiations as well as in court. Clients who work with him see those dual aims reflected in how he manages matters: practical steps to resolve disputes and careful litigation preparation when resolution is not possible.

Outside of specific casework, Kraeuter has been active in professional circles. He holds current membership in at least one legal association. He has used those connections to stay current on procedural developments in federal courts and on changes in Maryland statutory law that affect business clients.

His practice at Frost Law involves representing individuals and businesses in matters that arise under Maryland law and in federal cases that touch the state. He appears regularly in Maryland state courts and in the federal courts to which he is admitted. He continues to split time between counseling business clients and litigating when disputes reach a courtroom.

He currently represents clients in state and federal courts and handles matters arising under Maryland law.
