About Matthew J.

Matthew J. Kristofco trained as a lawyer in the Pacific Northwest. He earned his J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School in 1998 after completing a bachelor’s degree in political science at St. Bonaventure University in 1992. While at Lewis & Clark he completed a certification in Environmental and Natural Resources Law, a credential that has shaped the direction of his legal work.

After law school he established his professional base in Colorado. His practice has been centered on matters that intersect environmental regulation, land use and administrative law. Those areas draw on both the technical aspects of environmental statutes and the procedural mechanics of agency proceedings. He handles regulatory filings, administrative hearings and counsel for clients facing state and local environmental requirements.

Kristofco’s undergraduate studies in political science inform his approach to cases that involve public policy and governmental institutions. He brings an understanding of legislative and regulatory processes to matters that require interaction with agencies and local governments. His work often involves translating technical environmental standards into practical steps for clients and explaining policy implications to nonlawyers.

The Lewis & Clark certificate in Environmental and Natural Resources Law is a distinct part of his background. It reflects coursework and training that address environmental statutes, public land law and the procedural environment surrounding environmental cases. That training underpins the technical side of his practice and guides how he evaluates compliance issues, permitting questions and remediation obligations.

He maintains an office at 14143 Denver West Parkway. From there he meets with clients, prepares filings and attends administrative hearings. His work combines research and negotiation, and it requires regular contact with regulators and local officials. He often represents entities that must navigate state environmental standards or respond to enforcement inquiries.

Outside of case files he keeps a steady focus on the intersection of law and environmental policy. He adapts legal strategies to the practical needs of those he advises. He currently practices environmental and natural resources law from his office at 14143 Denver West Parkway.
