About Matthew J

Matthew J Baione completed his undergraduate studies at St. John’s University, earning a B.A. in Social Studies in 2011. He went on to Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where he received his J.D. in 2015 and concentrated his coursework in constitutional law. Those formative years shaped his legal understanding and gave him a solid grounding in doctrinal study and legal research.

After law school Baione entered practice in the New York area. He is licensed to practice in both New York and New Jersey and maintains active memberships in a number of local and city bar organizations. He belongs to the State Bar of New York and the New York City Bar Association, and he is also a member of the Asian American Bar Association of New York and the Richmond County Bar Association. These memberships keep him connected to peers across multiple courts and jurisdictions.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in approach. He has developed practical courtroom experience and familiarity with procedural work through steady practice. Baione balances time between client counseling, motion practice and courtroom appearances. He pays attention to legal detail and to the procedural mechanics that often determine how cases progress. He also participates in the informal networks that help newer lawyers learn the practical side of litigation and client work.

At Pitta & Baione LLP he works alongside a small team of attorneys and staff. The firm environment places an emphasis on case preparation, research and client contact. Baione contributes to case strategy and manages a docket that spans matters in both New York and New Jersey courts. He is known within the office for his preparedness in hearings and for maintaining clear lines of communication with clients and co-counsel.

Outside of firm responsibilities he stays involved in bar activities and local legal programming. His memberships in city and county bar groups expose him to continuing legal education and networking forums. That involvement gives him regular opportunities to stay current on court developments and procedural updates that affect practice in both states.

He currently practices at Pitta & Baione LLP, representing clients in matters across New York and New Jersey.
